Product Description

Diphenylmethane-4,4'-diisocyanate, also known as 4,4'-diisocyanate diphenylmethane, 4,4'-methylene bis (phenyl isocyanate), referred to as diphenylmethane diisocyanate, Abbreviation 4, 4'-MDI or MDI. Diphenylmethane diisocyanate is a large-tonnage organic chemical product with 4,4'-MDI, 2,4'-MDI, 2,2'-MDI and other isomers. The most widely used is 4,4'-MDI. At room temperature, diphenylmethane-4,4'-diisocyanate is a white to pale yellow solid or crystal that has a strong irritating odor. It can be dissolved in acetone, benzene, kerosene, nitrobenzene, acetone, ether, ethyl acetate, dioxane, etc. It is flammable in case of open flame, high heat, and decomposes when exposed to heat or water and acid, releasing toxic fumes. Diphenylmethane-4,4'-diisocyanate is toxic. It has a strong stimulating effect on eyes, skin and mucous membranes. Inhalation of steam can cause asthma. Diphenylmethane-4,4'-diisocyanate turns yellow at room temperature, and it is easy to form insoluble dimers, so the product needs to be added with a stabilizer. The stabilizer generally uses a mixture of tosyl isocyanate, carboxy isocyanate, tricresyl phosphite and 4,4'-(6-tert-butyl-3,3-cresol). Mainly used in plastics and rubber industries; and used as an adhesive. The molecular formula is (C6H4NCO) 2CH2.
